This album was the culmination of everything. Every struggle, every hated job, every night out, every doubt that we weren’t fucking our lives up. A culmination that just happened to be accidentally perfectly timed and would thrust us way beyond our wildest dreams. I can still taste the air that surrounded this time in our lives. It was a blurred line between anxiety and excitement while learning to open bottles of beer with almost anything in your pockets.

Pretty quickly, being in Kaiser Chiefs went from ‘wouldn’t it be crazy if’ to ‘isn’t it crazy that’. Our ambitions were overtaking us and it felt like we didn’t really have control of it any more. All we had control of was making the second record, which of course was the most important thing of all. I dunno how we kept it together? Maybe because we’d been trying so long to get there, we weren’t ever gunna put ourselves in a position where we’d be sent home.

It’s been a busy few weeks in Kaiser World as we gear up for 2019.
